Thriving in Troublous Times Anchored in Wisdom and
Discernment
God never
intended His people to merely survive.
His desire is that we reign in life—not
apart from hardship, but right in the
midst of it. As we move toward the
closing moments of this age, the
spiritual atmosphere is shifting. What
once felt like subtle pressure is
becoming open hostility. What once
required discernment now demands courage
anchored in wisdom and spiritual
clarity.
Ephesians 5:15–17 See then that you walk
circumspectly, not as fools but as wise,
redeeming the time, because the days are
evil. Therefore, do not be unwise, but
understand what the will of the Lord is.
This is not
a season for casual Christianity. It is
a season that exposes what we truly
believe, what we truly love, and where
our allegiance rests. If we fail to
recognize the times we are living in, we
risk drifting into complacency—caught
off guard by storms Scripture has
already warned us about. Yet we are
called to reign in life through every
circumstance.
Romans
5:17 Those who receive abundance of
grace and the gift of righteousness will
reign in life through the One, Jesus
Christ.
How do we
reign in a world unraveling around us?
By continually drawing from the
abundance of grace already poured out in
Christ. This grace is not a trickle for
emergencies—it is a vast reservoir meant
to sustain, strengthen, and empower us
to live above the pressures that seek to
crush us.
To reign, we
must entrust every corner of our lives
to Him—our decisions, fears, instincts,
and interpretations of the world around
us. We must resist the temptation to
lean on our own understanding, even when
our reasoning feels justified.
2
Corinthians 9:8 God is able to make all
grace abound toward you… that you may
have an abundance for every good work.
Reigning
begins with surrender, continues with
dependence, and is sustained by a heart
posture that says, “Your wisdom, not
mine. Your strength, not mine.” Only
then can His grace lift us above the
hostility of the hour and anchor us in
the discernment needed to lead,
minister, and stand firm.
2
Corinthians 3:5 Not that we are
sufficient of ourselves… but our
sufficiency is from God.
As we trust
Him day by day, His grace doesn’t merely
comfort us—it fortifies us. It equips us
to respond with clarity and walk with
Spirit‑born steadiness even when
hostility rises like a tide. His grace
is not fragile; it is strong enough to
anchor us in courage, discernment, and
spiritual authority in a shaking world. But
this requires more than passive belief.
It demands awakening.
God is
preparing us to stand when others
collapse, to shine when darkness
thickens, and to reign when pressures
intensify. This life cannot be lived on
autopilot. It calls for a mind that
refuses distraction, a heart that
refuses fear, and a soul willing to
confront the hidden places where
compromise whispers.
There is an
urgency in the Spirit—a holy insistence
that we shed the last remnants of casual
discipleship. The days ahead will not
reward half‑hearted faith; they will
expose it. To reign in this hour is to
embrace the costly, beautiful path of
true discipleship: allowing God to
reshape our instincts, reorder our
priorities, and strengthen our inner man
until Christ is unmistakably formed in
us.
TTo live as
on‑fire disciples today, we must
recognize the divine shifts in our lives
and in the world. Isaiah reminds us that
God announces new seasons before they
arrive, preparing paths ahead of us. For
God to usher us into new seasons, we
must undergo continual transformation,
receiving fresh outpourings of His
Spirit.
Acts 3:19
Repent… that times of refreshing may
come from the presence of the Lord.
Repentance
reshapes our thinking, aligning us with
God’s higher ways. As the world shifts
and the spiritual atmosphere
intensifies, every headline and cultural
trend whispers the same truth: this is
no ordinary time. We are called not to
drift with the tide but to stand
anchored in wisdom and discernment./span>
We are
living in a pivotal season—one demanding
clarity, courage, and conviction.
Spiritual warfare is intensifying both
in the heavenly realms and on earth. In
such an hour, wisdom and discernment are
not optional; they are essential. We
must guard our hearts and steps,
refusing the enemy’s snares.
God’s Word
overflows with prophetic
promises—anchors of hope guiding us from
Adam to the return of Christ. With the
Father’s strength at work within us, we
are called to rise like the sons of
Issachar—those who understood the times
and knew how Israel should respond. That
same call echoes to us today, just as
Paul urged the Ephesian church in our
opening Scripture.

Review: Ed
Becker, Author, Sr. Pastor
writes:
"Ken Birks has written a
masterpiece of superb
continuity. Each daily
devotional I read, along with
the poem, and special prayer,
became my favorite in the
whole book – until I read the
next one. As I finished the
manuscript, I realized each
devotional revealed timely
end-time strategies to
enlighten, equip, and inspire
the believer. Each devotional
also challenges the reader to
grow, mature, and pursue the
highest level of Christian
conduct." |
