Thriving in Troublous Times Empowered by the Holy Spirit
1 John 2:20, 27 But you have an
anointing from the Holy One… the
anointing which you have received from
Him abides in you…
What comes to mind when you hear
“empowered by the Holy Spirit”? Is it a
mild sense of comfort—or a bold,
Spirit‑fueled confidence that reshapes
how you live? Scripture is clear: every
born‑again believer carries the Holy
Spirit’s anointing. We are not ordinary;
we are God‑commissioned vessels equipped
with divine power for every moment of
life.
To believe this is to
reject small living. Empowerment calls
us into a life where excuses fall away,
courage rises, and the supernatural
becomes normal.
Yet the piercing
question remains: Are we living as
Spirit‑empowered people, or settling for
less? Are we drawing from His presence
daily, or allowing His power to lie
dormant—available but unused? The
Spirit is willing. The question is
whether we are.
John 14:15–17 …He will
give you another Helper… the Spirit of
truth… for He dwells with you and will
be in you.
For the Holy Spirit to truly be our
Helper, we must do more than linger in
God’s presence—we must trust Him enough
to surrender our plans and instincts.
Proverbs does not offer a suggestion but
a mandate: acknowledge Him in all your
ways. Only then do ordinary steps become
divinely directed.
Proverbs 3:5–6
Trust in the Lord… acknowledge Him… and
He shall direct your paths.
Daily pressures often pull our faith
downward—not because God is distant, but
because we rush ahead without Him. We
move through life without pausing to
invite the Helper into our situations.
When confusion rises, we wonder why
peace collapses. The issue is not His
absence but our neglect of His presence.
Proverbs 16:3, 9
Commit your works to the Lord… A man’s
heart plans his way, but the Lord
directs his steps.
If we truly believe God dwells
within us, what comfort zones would
shrink? What bold prayers would rise?
What risks would we finally take—not
recklessly, but courageously—because the
Spirit who raised Christ empowers us?
We have also been given spiritual
gifts to manifest His power and bring
hope to others. Many believers struggle
not because they lack gifts, but because
they fail to pursue and develop them.
These gifts are not optional—they are
essential to our calling. To walk in
God’s design requires intentional
activation of what He has already placed
within us.
1
Peter 4:10 As each one has
received a gift, minister it… as good
stewards of the manifold grace of God.
To ignore our gifts is to live
beneath our calling. To pursue them is
to step boldly into God’s purpose. Every
believer carries a divine assignment
woven into God’s larger plan. The
question is unavoidable: **Do you know
the gifts God has entrusted to you—and
are you pursuing them with the
seriousness your calling deserves?**
The Holy Spirit has equipped you.
The question is whether you will step
into what He has empowered you to do.
Acts 1:8
But you shall receive power when the
Holy Spirit has come upon you…

Review: Ed
Becker, Author, Sr. Pastor
writes:
"Ken Birks has written a
masterpiece of superb
continuity. Each daily
devotional I read, along with
the poem, and special prayer,
became my favorite in the
whole book – until I read the
next one. As I finished the
manuscript, I realized each
devotional revealed timely
end-time strategies to
enlighten, equip, and inspire
the believer. Each devotional
also challenges the reader to
grow, mature, and pursue the
highest level of Christian
conduct." |
